Greg
Carpenter, Chairman & CEO,
has more than 20 years of experience as a leader
in the financial services industries. Prior to
founding Employee Fiduciary Corporation,
Carpenter served as President and CEO of one
of the fastest
growing third-party defined-contribution record-keeping
companies, leading that company from its very
early stages to profitability. Carpenter also
served as Vice President, Mutual Funds, and Vendor
Relations Manager for Dain Rauscher Corporation.
At Dain, Carpenter was responsible for all mutual
fund products, including marketing promotion
and due diligence on fund vendors. He also developed
the preferred mutual fund vendor program and
managed the firm’s mutual fund wrap products.
From 1990 to 1996 Carpenter was Director of Pension
Investments with Northwest Airlines, Inc. where
he directed investments for $5 billion of defined
benefit, 401(k) and employee stock plan assets.
Carpenter
began his career as a consultant and CPA with
Coopers & Lybrand
and Deloitte Haskins & Sells. He holds a bachelor's degree from
Yale University and an MBA in finance from The University of Chicago.
Mike Palmer, Executive
Vice President & Chief Operating
Officer,
oversees plan consulting, conversion and compliance for
Employee Fiduciary.
Previously, Palmer served as manager of accounting and administration at
Warren, Averett, Kimbrough & Marino, managing a team responsible for servicing 350+ retirement plans, ranging in size from 3 to 3,000 participants.
Palmer also oversaw ERISA compliance and reporting for corporate retirement accounts at Hancock Bank and served as lead conversion analyst for Daily Access Corporation. Palmer began his career as an auditor for the Mobile County (AL) Public School System.
In 2006, Palmer was selected to serve on the Employee Benefits Technical Resource Panel, providing governance and technical support on retirement plan issues to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), which is the largest national association of Certified Public Accountants, with a membership of more than 200,000.
Palmer is a CPA, a Qualified Pension Administrator and a Qualified 401(k) Administrator. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA from The University of South Alabama.
Parker
Payson, Executive Vice
President, Communications & Public
Affairs, is in charge of proposal creation and plan analysis
for Employee Fiduciary. Since 2004, Payson and his team have helped several hundred employers, trustees and advisors slash fees in company retirement plans. Previously, Payson worked on national policy issues—such
as deregulation of the telephone industry,
social security and other entitlements,
campaign finance reform and foreign aid—for
more than 15 years. He is a former journalist
and trained statistician. Payson taught
statistics to municipal managers of the
City of Chicago.
He helped the Maytag Corporation improve
operations and international sales. He
addressed the National Press Club, lectured
for the
Smithsonian and spoke at the Chautauqua
Institute. Payson wrote and produced a
national, prime-time
television series for PBS and served as
a regular contributor to National Public
Radio’s Morning Edition.
He previously worked
as a communications consultant for
the Oracle
Corporation.
Payson holds a
bachelor’s degree from The University
of the South and an MBA in statistics, finance
and policy studies from The University of Chicago.
